The Off-the-Shoulder Flop!

As I promised you from the beginning of Whats up Cork, I would always bring you my favorites AND my not so favorites....or as I call them flops! Well here is my story and I'm sticking to it.....After the gym a couple weekends ago I stopped into The Rack (all sweaty, flushed and make-up free) to get some gifts for a Birthday party I was attending later that night. I roamed over to the sale racks and found this cute shirt for Spring. I love the Embroidered Trim around the bottom and the feminine Bows on the sleeves. Cute right?

I paired it with skinny Jeans since it's loose fitting!

I even tried it with my Pink Sneakers for more of a casual look. But in the end,I just don't think it's flattering on this curvy girl. I feel like the gathered neckline makes me look rounder, and off-the-shoulder was, well, hard to keep off-the-shoulder. I do love the Bow's at the wrists as a sweet detail. All in all gang...this one is not for me. I love the embroidery, color and look of it...just not on me. I will try another off-the shoulder look. Again. Sigh.

The Little Red Shirt and all Her Fun Options!

There's a new store in town people, and our little slice of heaven will never be the same. I'm a huge online fan but now....oy vey...momma is happy! I'm talkin' about Nordstrom Rack. Yes, I live in a suburb of Los Angeles and we just got a Nordi Rack. Hard to believe but true. The hubby and I checked it and this was one of my fun finds. I love this little shirt. It's easy to wear, lightweight for layering, baggy enough for comfort without risking shape. And in store, it was under $30.

Looks a little frumpy out but I went to work folding the sleeves..... (I'm wearing a Medium)

Is this what they call a "Party in the back?"

I added a thick Brown Belt with a half tuck to nip in my waist.  Dark Brown and Red are such a great classic pair! I have the exzact one and some similar options below ~

And let's finish it with a Lace Halter Bralette peeking out. What a subtly sexy way to jazz up this conservative yet fun shirt!

Woop woop, let's hear it for this Red Striped Shirt and all the fun we can do with her. You, of course, can get it in Black and White and change out your shoe color. How about Black/White stripes and Yellow flats? Oh, I could go on all day...But hopefully, you will get some outfit inspiration. Shop the look above and/or pop into a Nordstrom Rack or shop online asap!

I'm on Vacay for a week, much needed. I have fitness classes I want to try, a garage calling my name to be cleaned (Yes I TRULY LOVE TO CLEAN AND ORGANIZE, IT RELAXES ME) lunch with friends and a trip to San Louise Obispo planned. Make it a great one gang.

Tank Tops Already????

I know what your thinking....Tank top's in April? I was in Old Navy and these babies were $10. Yes! I swear. I bought 3 and packed them away.....for warmer weather. Then it hit 98 degrees in Los Angeles and I dragged them out. Sigh.  Not a fan of hot weather OR my arms, so this is a big leap for this curvy girl. What drew me to these? First off the price, then the color and print options, and finally the thick straps and fuller coverage.

How fun are these two colors together?

I love the way the "Hi-Lo Swing Tank" is a bit roomy, especially around the belly/hip area. Instead of saying on the tag: "We are going to cover your big gut," they call it a "swing" tank. LOL!  This color is Squash in a Medium.

I thought this one was cute with "Slow your roll" printed on the Heather Grey Tank.

And these babies will help me slowly roll into warmer weather so it's a win-win for not too much money spent. I love that. Check out Old Navy, they have great staple pieces. Make it a great one gang!

The Softest Faux Fur Vest....EVER!

Oh my gosh where did the Month go? It's April!! It's almost Christmas. Kidding. Kind of. We are three months into this year and I think I'm ready for a cool down.  I know that that's not how things work, but it is 83 degrees today. It was raining, poring and thunder last week. I guess that's why I live in California.....and because my family is here.  Any who....we ventured to Old Town Pasadena for a yummy Brunch with family, and I had to look the part. We walked right by where they film American Idol, and of course, they asked me to come sing (eye roll).........HA! The real story is we walked by the lines for American Idol and went straight to the Mexican restaurant, where I sat and shoveled copious amounts of chips and salsa in my pie hole, as everyone else chatted. Now that's the truth!

I thought this Faux Fur vest would be fun and comfortable and it did not disappoint. I like the "Rocker meets Flight Attendant" look. Why not add a scarf with great colors when you have a lot of basics going on?

I tied the scarf around my waist thru the belt loops and really like the way it breaks up the all Black column. You could wrap it around your wrist or even tie it to your purse. It's all about the fun and unexpected.

We have a busy weekend ahead with Easter. I hope you all enjoy yourselves with a lot of food, cute outfits, family and friends and maybe some Church!? Make it a great one gang.

A Side-Knotted Tee Done Two Ways!

Oh did I ever find us a good one! I ran across this side knot long sleeve tee and ended up buying it in Blue and Black. The cotton is silky soft, fit is a little on the big size and has great coverage. I love the little bit longer length (no it doesn't come in Petite) and the twist on the side for added interest and fun. Let's see what we can do ~

Yes, I do have Blue Sneakers but that would have been an entire outfit of Blue....where's the fun in that? Add in some Pink Sneakers and now we are Rockin' and Rollin'.

Ok so we have three of my favorite staples here: The Side Knot Long Sleeve Tee for fun, comfort and coverage. A Red multi-color scarf for texture and warmth, and my style "ride-or-die".....The Jean Jacket! Forever these pieces are on repeat in my closet.

I love the Black side knot long sleeve tee although the dark color does hide the knot a bit. This outfit is so fun with the toughness of the Black Jeans, the preppiness of the Loafers and the casualness of the top. Easy to put together and run out of the house.

I'm sorry but,  who said that little tinny, curvy chicks couldn't wear long Cardigans? Where is that rule written? I think that if you keep the bottom (Pants or Jeans) fitted and show your ankle you will be fine. Showing your knees with the ripped Jeans is optional. HA!

I'm going to try to make this week a better one. Life is kicking my butt a bit with stress, but I know he doesn't give us more than we can handle and with that I keep my faith. Make it a great one gang.

Knee High Boots and the Curvy Girl

OK let's get real for a quick sec.....when you are vertically challenged, have thicker calf's and thighs, the Boot situation can be a serious struggle! Have you tried to buy "Thigh-high Boot's" - Um, let's just say that you have to do some extra shaving since the Boot's are going to end up in your crotch. Sooooo, I stick to "Knee-high Boot's" in regular size, not Petite, because they actually end up at my thighs. Now onto the next challenge: stuffing Jeans into the Boot's. I got ya' here. I pull the Jeans all the way down so the bulk is in the shoe portion of the Boot, not the calf. If the Boot's are tight I do not add bulk by wearing high room to spare!

I'm sure in my younger days that my skirt may have been a little shorter but I carry a lot of my weight in my thighs, and my knees can be not so pretty. So this flip skirt is perfect since it just hits me just above the knee, the knee high Boot's are above the knee so there is just a little bit of skin.

Who doesn't love a good Utility Jacket to carry us into Spring? Lightweight and comfortable AND covers the extra areas that may have a little extra Winter padding on them. #sunflowerseeds

Yes, the Prepster is alive and well. Although I do look a bit like I might ride a horse also. Shall we call it: "Prepster Equestrian?"  My Ralph Lauren shirt is from the kids department at Marshalls, I linked the Man's version below. Kids department is great when your little BTW.

These are comfortable Cords (Cords are a great alternative to Jeans) and there was much tucking involved. I shoved the extra material from the pant's down into the foot area and zipped these babies up. Topped it all off with a wide Belt to nip in at the waist.

These are key pieces for your wardrobe: A Utility Jacket, Knee-high Boot's and colored Cords. Every curvy girl need's um'.

If you read my post from last week, we topped everything off with a small electrical fire in the Kitchen....but everyone is safe and everything has been fixed. Not sure why everything decided to break, blow-up and stop working at the same time.....Well it's so true that what you think may break you only makes you stronger. Make it a great one gang.

Ripped Jeans and Rain Clouds

Rain drops are falling and I'm doing a happy dance. Love this weather! Cold, wet and uncomfortable is calling my name. I just want to snuggle up with a fire, a good book and a bowl of Sunflower seeds. But instead, I braved the rain to show you how incredibly cute these Distressed Boyfriend Jeans are. I did a little Boho action first, then went for the Sweatshirt and Sneaks look. Shop the look below or get a little "rain weather outfit inspiration" ~

I love these booties with the Perforated Faux Leather, but they are sold out. So I found you some similar ones here and here.

I tied my shirt to the side, it's not for everyone, but it nips you in at the waist

I have a thang for Funnel-Neck Sweatshirt's. I just think they add some fun and interest to a pretty average and comfortable item.

And there you have it, a Southern California girl making the most out of a wonderful wet weather storm. Happy dance. And as I'm sure my mom will ask: "Why wear ripped jeans in cold, wet weather? Don't your legs get wet or cold?.....Nope. Just keepin' it stylish mom.

Have a great week gang.

Just Casual Pinkiness!

Ok, so Mother Nature is playing tricks on us here in California, as it's been warm, like 75 degrees and now it dropped to 38! Yes, I actually had ice on my car window this morning...What does one do in these strange situations? Do I buy a ice scraper? How do you use it? Should we go to work or stay indoors?? Kidding....I really love the cold and all that comes with it: layers, hot tea, heating blanket, snuggling....and scarf's. I thought I would keep this whole Valentines Pink thang' going with this super soft and medium weight, Pink sweater and Purple (or Eggplant) Cords.

I never get enough of the pom-pom flats! I may or may not have stopped to do a cheer routine in the middle of the mall to show them off.

Oh Denim Jacket...."You complete me!"

I changed it up with my super comfortable, keeps my feet warm, Tilly's Booties and a Pink Scarf.

Cords are a nice change from Jeans - and the colors are endless!

I never tire of Van's. They are really one of my very favorite Sneakers, and if you go on the Van's website the options and prints are so cute! I remember in Junior High wearing them, and when we got bored or lacked focus (HAHAHAHA) in class we would draw on them. You know you were deep in love if your name made it to a boys shoes.

On a serious note: this lovely park is in Santa Clarita and is called "VETERANS HISTORICAL PLAZA" It's a lovely memorial to those who have served in the different branches of Military. It's smack in the middle of town and is really lovely and so well done. I don't think we do enough for the Military so I love to see them Honored. Just my own personal, tinny, soap box...ok I'm done.

All right my super Pink friends, shop the look above, maybe get some inspiration, and have a wonderful rest of your week. Thanks for stopping by ~

Have you been confused by how to wear a "Cargo Shirt?"

Well let me put your mind at ease...Cargo Shirts are fun and easy as long as you keep all the crap out of your pockets so it doesn't weigh ya down. Now, a little Peanut Butter Cup for later is fine but let's not take the whole "Cargo" thing to far.  We are talking pocket's galore.....

Office appropriate, I think so. A scarf around the neck is always fun and playful and yet really finishes off this somewhat casual shirt.

This Brown goes with anything....I love Grey and Brown.

Friday casual maybe? I love these Black slacks as they're soft and flattering. They're just fitted enough if your curvy to hug your curves but not cling to them.

Cheetah print shoes for interest is puuurrrfct.

an entirely different look: Black Tank tucked into the slacks and the shirt worn open and tied in the back. A clean long line look!

Perfect transition into Spring. Maybe add a floral print for under this little Cargo Shirt and hello Spring!

Ok my peeps I'm working on doing a U-tube video...more fun coming your way.

A Girly Floral Dress

These days I'm feeling all kinds of girly. Is it that time in my life? I'm at the mid-way point people. 45! I have always been a bit of a tomb the feminine change hitting me all the sudden? Maybe I'm looking way to much into this and It's just that my tastes are changing or growing up?! Anyway, I'm in the mood for a little floral dress and her options ~

I love this dress! Such a sweet print with a deep v-neck and a bit of an a-line cut. I wore a simple black tank under this floral frock to hide the girls, and added some black tights to keep me warm. I love that the sleeves cover my upper arms. I am covered and comfortable! I kept my earrings simple with no necklace so that the dress is the focus.

Oh Jean Jacket you are my "ride or die!" And "popping the collar" is a must!

I love that the Denim Jacket toughens the sweetness of the dress a bit.

This dress is toooo short for me to wear without leggings or tights! I was hesitant to put this pic in, but I always promise you guys that I want to show you my authentic self, good or bad. This is bad. This dress comes way to far up on the leg for my heavy thighs. We shot this dress from the front and I didn't realize how short it was till I looked at the pictures (in my mirror it wasn't so bad)...gasp! So here I am, side-ways for you. Moving on to pics with I will really wear it:

And how fun is this? Leggings and a little pop of color on the feet! Keep in mind that when you wear cropped leggings they need to show your ankle since that is generally the smallest part of your leg. Then your stems look thinner! Yeah!

NO! Not a good look...tied at the neck makes me look stumpy and heavier...I need my neck and chest to show.

I was actually falling over, oh how I love to laugh at myself. What a dork!

And there you have it...A big bowl of do's and don'ts and flower prints and leggings and denim all smooshed together. This girly girl is going to go eat some sunflower seed's and watch a little baseball...hey, I'm still a bit of a tom-boy but who said I can't watch the game in a floral dress?!
