Knee High Boots and the Curvy Girl

OK let's get real for a quick sec.....when you are vertically challenged, have thicker calf's and thighs, the Boot situation can be a serious struggle! Have you tried to buy "Thigh-high Boot's" - Um, let's just say that you have to do some extra shaving since the Boot's are going to end up in your crotch. Sooooo, I stick to "Knee-high Boot's" in regular size, not Petite, because they actually end up at my thighs. Now onto the next challenge: stuffing Jeans into the Boot's. I got ya' here. I pull the Jeans all the way down so the bulk is in the shoe portion of the Boot, not the calf. If the Boot's are tight I do not add bulk by wearing high room to spare!

I'm sure in my younger days that my skirt may have been a little shorter but I carry a lot of my weight in my thighs, and my knees can be not so pretty. So this flip skirt is perfect since it just hits me just above the knee, the knee high Boot's are above the knee so there is just a little bit of skin.

Who doesn't love a good Utility Jacket to carry us into Spring? Lightweight and comfortable AND covers the extra areas that may have a little extra Winter padding on them. #sunflowerseeds

Yes, the Prepster is alive and well. Although I do look a bit like I might ride a horse also. Shall we call it: "Prepster Equestrian?"  My Ralph Lauren shirt is from the kids department at Marshalls, I linked the Man's version below. Kids department is great when your little BTW.

These are comfortable Cords (Cords are a great alternative to Jeans) and there was much tucking involved. I shoved the extra material from the pant's down into the foot area and zipped these babies up. Topped it all off with a wide Belt to nip in at the waist.

These are key pieces for your wardrobe: A Utility Jacket, Knee-high Boot's and colored Cords. Every curvy girl need's um'.

If you read my post from last week, we topped everything off with a small electrical fire in the Kitchen....but everyone is safe and everything has been fixed. Not sure why everything decided to break, blow-up and stop working at the same time.....Well it's so true that what you think may break you only makes you stronger. Make it a great one gang.

Ripped Jeans and Rain Clouds

Rain drops are falling and I'm doing a happy dance. Love this weather! Cold, wet and uncomfortable is calling my name. I just want to snuggle up with a fire, a good book and a bowl of Sunflower seeds. But instead, I braved the rain to show you how incredibly cute these Distressed Boyfriend Jeans are. I did a little Boho action first, then went for the Sweatshirt and Sneaks look. Shop the look below or get a little "rain weather outfit inspiration" ~

I love these booties with the Perforated Faux Leather, but they are sold out. So I found you some similar ones here and here.

I tied my shirt to the side, it's not for everyone, but it nips you in at the waist

I have a thang for Funnel-Neck Sweatshirt's. I just think they add some fun and interest to a pretty average and comfortable item.

And there you have it, a Southern California girl making the most out of a wonderful wet weather storm. Happy dance. And as I'm sure my mom will ask: "Why wear ripped jeans in cold, wet weather? Don't your legs get wet or cold?.....Nope. Just keepin' it stylish mom.

Have a great week gang.

A Fluffy Cardi from Day to Night!

So being the big party animal that I am (eye roll and big loud laugh) I wanted to show you how you can use this yummy faux fur Cardi for day and evening. Evening's in my world consists of either being at home (love that) or out to dinner with friends or my kids (love that just as much!) I love to be able to throw on something special that elevates a boring outfit instantly.....and this one does that. It's simply a super soft, fuzzy Cardigan in a inky Black color that's warm and comfortable. Easy.

I can't get enough of these Union Bay Camo Pant's! They are sold out now but I found some similar here and here. I paired them with a White-T and Black Sneaks, I love the casual vibe.

Going to a nice restaurant or a Concert maybe? This will keep you warm and look adorable. Worried about your hips or arms? They are covered ladies. This Cardigan is a little big on me that's why I:

1. Wore open heel's (shows some skin so I don't look so overwhelmed and gave me some height because I'm super short)

2. Wore skinny Jeans that are longer to lengthen my leg line. I kept them Black and fitted so they don't add bulk.

3. I wore a Silky Tank that's loose and shorter so that it hit's above my waist. It gives the allusion that my middle area (tummy and hips) are smaller than they are. I also picked a tank with a lower than usual neckline to make it....sexier. I'm not one to preach the whole sexy thing but my girls are covered, it's just a little lower than usual.

4. Kept my purse small so that I don't have a giant distraction weighing me down! LOL.

I hope my little tips and tricks helped a little for you party know who you are!! And for the rest of us....your just a fluffy faux Cardi away from greatness! Shop the look above.

A Custom Made Blazer For Everyone!

It's arrived and It's a beautiful shade of Burgundy! It hasn't spit-up or cried much but it's just so new....HA!! I'm kidding.....My new custom made Blazer arrived and I couldn't be more excited. I made a little video for your viewing pleasure. Then, I styled it two ways...I'm sure more will be on it's way....Grab your buttered popcorn and press play.....

Totally unscripted and flying by the seat of my pant's but you get the idea...The Blazer is perfect for me and was super easy to order!

(It's wayyyyyyy harder than it looks, specially when you crack yourself up all the time and there are wierd noises even though I'm alone????)

I love this combo! I think the prints and solids all play so well off of each other!

A blazer does not always have to be dressed up...casual is fun also.

No, you don't have to have light colored pockets or a Burgundy Blazer, you can literally pick whatever you want. I wanted my Blazer to be a reflection of my crazy personality and sense of style. I tend to be conservative so often, so even though this Blazer is a conservative piece, you can really interject some fun into it if you want. What would your Blazer look like? If you would like to order your own Blazer here is the link: Atelier 1919.

Disclosure: Thank you to Atelier 1919 for partnering on this post with me. Affiliate links are used although everything is 100% my very own opinion!

An Amazing Man's Unique Gift for Valentines Day!

There once was this "Amazing Man" who was married to this "Super duper cute, little, fashionable, Funny Woman ;) for many many years (23 to be exact) and needed a really interesting gift for the upcoming Valentines Day gift exchange. He knew she loved clothes, but she had plenty of those.....He knew she loved Animals, but they have 3 dog's already and he knew if she added a 4th (which she would gladly do) the city would cart her off to jail for going over the city ordinance. He knew she loved shoe's, but she was already crowding his closet.....Jewelry is great but he wanted something fun and unique.....? Then he saw an add for a "Wooden Watch." He went to the Jord Webpage and found that the watches are made from "Natural Wood" from around the world. They have beautiful watches for Men AND Women and you can have the Watch Engraved. This is what "My Beloved Wife" must have, he exclaimed!!!!

The "Amazing Husband," ordered his "Fabulous Wife," a watch from the Frankie Collection in Zebrawood and Champagne. Being his perfect self, he knew it would compliment her very fair skin. He found the Website very easy to navigate and had the watch in under a week!

The "Amazing Husband" was thrilled to find that the watch came in a wooden box (now he wouldn't have to wrap the gift and make it look like a 2 year old wrapped it) but could just hand it to his Wife. And she could store the Watch in the Box for years to come. WIN WIN!

The Wife was shocked at the gift....she thought she had her Perfect Husband all figured out...He really hit a "Home Run" with this gift. Wink Wink.

The Wife tried on the new Watch and was pleasantly surprised at how light the Watch was. She could hardly tell she was wearing one.

The Wife was dreaming of all the outfits she could wear with her new Watch....She knew she could dress it up or down.

Then they went for their Valentines Dinner, where the Wife wore her new Wooden Watch and her "Amazing Husband" got a Starbucks Gift Card (She was very embarrassed!)....And when they got home the "Little Wife" secretly went on the Jord Website and ordered a Wooden Watch for her "Perfectly Amazing Husband!" And they lived happily ever after in Wooden Watch Land :)

Blue Leggings and Cute Cold Weather Options!

I hope you all had a fabulous time with your family and friends. Doing all the wonderful Holiday things there is to do: hanging, cooking, eating, laughing, movie watching, game playing, shopping, eating.....eating. We had so much fun and it was great catching up with family and friends. We did another one of those Maze Rooms, our 8th thank you very much. And we realized that us "elder" (the parents) can't make it out of the room without the kids. (they are college kids and super smart!) We all felt older and not so helpful.....but we beat the puzzle, got out, and had great time. We saw Star Wars....loved it! Yes, I am a huge nerd and proud of it. There will be no Princess Leia hair buns on this blog....well that would be funny....maybe.??

Let's get to the Boot and Leggings options shall we:

I love these wedge boots because the wedge heel isn't to high....I don't want to look to much like a (hooker) lady of the night. This is the only way I will wear a higher boot...with a longer cardigan. COVER MY BUTT PLEASE!

"Oh, Cream Scarf you rock my world and keep the girls warm!"

I love the fit and look of this asymmetrical cardigan sweater. I had tried this look before and found it was overwhelming but this version fit's better on curves. It's shorter in front and longer in back and I kept the T-shirt underneath fitted, but not tight, so I'm comfortable and pulled together.

I love the Grey long sleeved t-shirt underneath and Grey Boots but you could, of course, do dark Blue, Black or dark Brown also.

Feeling under the weather so I'm keeping it short today. Make it a great one gang,

A Faux Leather Jacket Done Two Ways!

Isn't it great when you buy an item and get a lottaaaa use out of it? That's what we're talking about today, amidst the blowing cold winds (maybe snow where you are at) shopping galore (I am shopped out! Is that a real thing?), and beautiful Holiday lights everywhere, a Jacket is all we really need!

I'm talking a buttery soft FAUX (because that's important to me) Leather Jacket and showing you two ways to wear it. This baby will get you through your Holiday gatherings and into January for work, and other everyday important things we do.

Casual for errands or a low key Job? Dressed up for the Office or Dinner out?

A little "heel action" going on with some simple and classy Pin-striped Slacks?! I have on a basic tank but you could do a Black T-shirt? I don't get the "pop of color" vibe from this jacket so I kept it toned down and classic.

I added a printed Henley for another option for you to see. This would work great If you tend to run warm and need to take the jacket off.....Not me!!! It's blistering cold 24/7 in Cork land!

I love the big draped lapel on this jacket as it works well with so many different necklines. Round, V-neck, Scooped, big Necklace, dainty....It has zipper pockets and run's a bit long in the arms. I actually like this for this Jacket because I folded them under for a more dressy look and folded them over to be more casual.

Favorite accessory #2??? Caps! Omg, how a Cap elevates an outfit. (btw: my favorite accessory #1 is a Scarf, for those who have not been paying attention. We will have a test later!)

Okay don't laugh at "Crazy Hair Lady," it was really windy. I have bad Allergies. This is my hot mess face. Focus on the outfit. Not my face. Kleenex anyone??

And this Jacket is so cute with Jeans also. I pumped it up a bit with these fun Grey Flats with a little Pom Pom on them. You can of course wear this outfit with Sneakers or Loafers. And who can go wrong with a Flannel?

When you live in Cali your days can be cold (as in 64, I know, not that cold) or in December and January we have some days at 74 degrees so we learn to dress in layers. Cali gals' know what I'm talkin' bout!

Enjoy your last week of shopping! Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Merry Christmas. To cover everyone....Happy Holidays!

Hi Simple Dress...Meet My Accessories!

We are smack in the middle of Holiday shopping and Target is a favorite shopping spot for the family. So when the cell phone is vibrating, and everyone is getting frustrated because we can't find mom in the store......go look in the ladies department! Yes, my gift's where mostly purchased when I snagged this simple yummy dress. Fitted and cute but needs some accessorizing! Let's see what we can do ~

I like it on it's own, fitted around the hips and roomier up top but we can do better!

This long Cardi was a gift from a dear friend and I love, love, love it. It's perfect over a dress since it's fitted itself. I found some similar ones for you in the links below.

A Scarf? Have some fun, don't match! Look Mine is Blue. There is no Blue anywhere it!

And as the sprinklers came on, we made a fast exit! But one last look.....The tassel Necklace.

Anyway you style it, make it fun. It's a ridiculously comfortable dress for under $30! Happy shopping my friends, and thanks for stopping by ~

Working The Faux Leather Skirt, Lady Style!

Yep, it's officially freezing in So Cal. It was 67 degree's today and I can't function. I really love this weather, although getting up in the dark at 5:30 am to work out is rough. Looking for a comfortable skirt for work or maybe going to dinner? I have one for you lovely ladies. How about a Faux Leather Skirt with a "paper bag waist." Don't tear open a paper bag and step inside and say: "Corki thinks this is cute!?" It simply is a high, gathered or cinched waist. They are ridiculously comfortable. Pair it with a Cardi and some Lace and here ya go ~

I added this fantastic dark Blue Lace Top for a little contrast. I love how the colors all work together so well. Although, can you really go wrong with Black?

FAVORITE ACCESSORY ALERT! Man do I love me a good Blanket Scarf. Keeps me warm, is fashionable and classy.  I added some tight's and these comfy Wedge Heel Booties. Totally work appropriate! Classroom? Office? This is a winner!

I know some of us walk or stand all day so I added a cute little pair of Herringbone flats. I'm telling you, this skirt is adorable and comfortable to pair with Heel's, Boot's or Flat's. I'm sure you can sex it up with a Tank Top, shorter or tighter Sweater and pointy Heel's, but that's a whole different Leather Skirt look. :) However you wear it...have fun! (Shop the look below)

A LBD and the Accessories to make her shine!

Most of us own one. Many have struggled with how to change it up, or maybe even just jazz it up. I'm talking about the Little Black Dress. This shift dress is from TJ Maxx. It's affordable, conservative, and stylish, with a high neck and flattering bell sleeves. I have this option, and some others below. Lets see how to make it shine ~

I kept my Earrings, Toenail polish and Lipstick simple so that I don't overwhelm the outfit with toooooo much going on.

Maybe a Square Scarf, tied at the side?

I love this Tassel Pendant Necklace from Charming Charlie. And hello, under $6!

Fun and girly, is what this Floral Bib Necklace says to me. I like the subtle color also. (And more dress options below)

We cannot forget about a classy long strand of Pearl's! Khol's makes some great ones, whether your looking for a solid strand or maybe a double strand with silver or gold. Each one is under $14!!! Hello extra Christmas money.

And this time I tied my Square Scarf in the back, and made it into a choker. Although, in some pictures it appears that this dress is to long on me (it's me hunched over, or in some strange position) it actually hit's me just above my knee, the perfect length for this Petite.

If your looking for a great "Little Black Dress" I have you covered with the options above. Remember how flattering a bell sleeve can be if you carry extra weight in your lovely arms.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you amazing ladies (and men?), I truly appreciate you stopping by ~ Gobble Gobble
