The Off-the-Shoulder Flop!

As I promised you from the beginning of Whats up Cork, I would always bring you my favorites AND my not so favorites....or as I call them flops! Well here is my story and I'm sticking to it.....After the gym a couple weekends ago I stopped into The Rack (all sweaty, flushed and make-up free) to get some gifts for a Birthday party I was attending later that night. I roamed over to the sale racks and found this cute shirt for Spring. I love the Embroidered Trim around the bottom and the feminine Bows on the sleeves. Cute right?

I paired it with skinny Jeans since it's loose fitting!

I even tried it with my Pink Sneakers for more of a casual look. But in the end,I just don't think it's flattering on this curvy girl. I feel like the gathered neckline makes me look rounder, and off-the-shoulder was, well, hard to keep off-the-shoulder. I do love the Bow's at the wrists as a sweet detail. All in all gang...this one is not for me. I love the embroidery, color and look of it...just not on me. I will try another off-the shoulder look. Again. Sigh.

The Little Red Shirt and all Her Fun Options!

There's a new store in town people, and our little slice of heaven will never be the same. I'm a huge online fan but now....oy vey...momma is happy! I'm talkin' about Nordstrom Rack. Yes, I live in a suburb of Los Angeles and we just got a Nordi Rack. Hard to believe but true. The hubby and I checked it and this was one of my fun finds. I love this little shirt. It's easy to wear, lightweight for layering, baggy enough for comfort without risking shape. And in store, it was under $30.

Looks a little frumpy out but I went to work folding the sleeves..... (I'm wearing a Medium)

Is this what they call a "Party in the back?"

I added a thick Brown Belt with a half tuck to nip in my waist.  Dark Brown and Red are such a great classic pair! I have the exzact one and some similar options below ~

And let's finish it with a Lace Halter Bralette peeking out. What a subtly sexy way to jazz up this conservative yet fun shirt!

Woop woop, let's hear it for this Red Striped Shirt and all the fun we can do with her. You, of course, can get it in Black and White and change out your shoe color. How about Black/White stripes and Yellow flats? Oh, I could go on all day...But hopefully, you will get some outfit inspiration. Shop the look above and/or pop into a Nordstrom Rack or shop online asap!

I'm on Vacay for a week, much needed. I have fitness classes I want to try, a garage calling my name to be cleaned (Yes I TRULY LOVE TO CLEAN AND ORGANIZE, IT RELAXES ME) lunch with friends and a trip to San Louise Obispo planned. Make it a great one gang.

Tank Tops Already????

I know what your thinking....Tank top's in April? I was in Old Navy and these babies were $10. Yes! I swear. I bought 3 and packed them away.....for warmer weather. Then it hit 98 degrees in Los Angeles and I dragged them out. Sigh.  Not a fan of hot weather OR my arms, so this is a big leap for this curvy girl. What drew me to these? First off the price, then the color and print options, and finally the thick straps and fuller coverage.

How fun are these two colors together?

I love the way the "Hi-Lo Swing Tank" is a bit roomy, especially around the belly/hip area. Instead of saying on the tag: "We are going to cover your big gut," they call it a "swing" tank. LOL!  This color is Squash in a Medium.

I thought this one was cute with "Slow your roll" printed on the Heather Grey Tank.

And these babies will help me slowly roll into warmer weather so it's a win-win for not too much money spent. I love that. Check out Old Navy, they have great staple pieces. Make it a great one gang!

The Curvy Girls Best Friend!

Well yes, one of my most favorite things in the entire world are dog's. More specifically.... MY DOGS! Perfect in every way. Never bark, perfectly trained. And that's all a big lie.  Let's be honest, they are adorable but a bit yappy, my boy dog nips at other dogs and howls on walks. But they are loyal, loving and think I'm the best thing ever, even after I sweat at the gym. Leading me to my other favorite thing.....Working out! I looked high and low for a cute gym top that can get me thru an intense work-out like Boot-camp or Spin and also cover all the belly and arm excess and boob'ige. Old Navy did a good one here!

It's called the "Relaxed Side-Tie Top for Women" and comes in a couple different colors. I picked Heather Grey and Light Pink for myself.  I'm waering a Medium.

I love the side tie and how it adds interest. Also the bigger neck is so great, I can show off my wide workout bra-top to bring the eye up.

It's all about color and fun. I always keep my pants very simple so it draws the eye up and away from my bigger bottom half.

Watch for the Old Navy sales as these shirts are sure to go on sale, unless they sell out. Although $12 is already a great deal. I'm off to clean my little dirty pack. They dug a nice little hole out back and got all dirty...and they are still perfect and adorable. Make it a great one gang.

The Softest Faux Fur Vest....EVER!

Oh my gosh where did the Month go? It's April!! It's almost Christmas. Kidding. Kind of. We are three months into this year and I think I'm ready for a cool down.  I know that that's not how things work, but it is 83 degrees today. It was raining, poring and thunder last week. I guess that's why I live in California.....and because my family is here.  Any who....we ventured to Old Town Pasadena for a yummy Brunch with family, and I had to look the part. We walked right by where they film American Idol, and of course, they asked me to come sing (eye roll).........HA! The real story is we walked by the lines for American Idol and went straight to the Mexican restaurant, where I sat and shoveled copious amounts of chips and salsa in my pie hole, as everyone else chatted. Now that's the truth!

I thought this Faux Fur vest would be fun and comfortable and it did not disappoint. I like the "Rocker meets Flight Attendant" look. Why not add a scarf with great colors when you have a lot of basics going on?

I tied the scarf around my waist thru the belt loops and really like the way it breaks up the all Black column. You could wrap it around your wrist or even tie it to your purse. It's all about the fun and unexpected.

We have a busy weekend ahead with Easter. I hope you all enjoy yourselves with a lot of food, cute outfits, family and friends and maybe some Church!? Make it a great one gang.

A Side-Knotted Tee Done Two Ways!

Oh did I ever find us a good one! I ran across this side knot long sleeve tee and ended up buying it in Blue and Black. The cotton is silky soft, fit is a little on the big size and has great coverage. I love the little bit longer length (no it doesn't come in Petite) and the twist on the side for added interest and fun. Let's see what we can do ~

Yes, I do have Blue Sneakers but that would have been an entire outfit of Blue....where's the fun in that? Add in some Pink Sneakers and now we are Rockin' and Rollin'.

Ok so we have three of my favorite staples here: The Side Knot Long Sleeve Tee for fun, comfort and coverage. A Red multi-color scarf for texture and warmth, and my style "ride-or-die".....The Jean Jacket! Forever these pieces are on repeat in my closet.

I love the Black side knot long sleeve tee although the dark color does hide the knot a bit. This outfit is so fun with the toughness of the Black Jeans, the preppiness of the Loafers and the casualness of the top. Easy to put together and run out of the house.

I'm sorry but,  who said that little tinny, curvy chicks couldn't wear long Cardigans? Where is that rule written? I think that if you keep the bottom (Pants or Jeans) fitted and show your ankle you will be fine. Showing your knees with the ripped Jeans is optional. HA!

I'm going to try to make this week a better one. Life is kicking my butt a bit with stress, but I know he doesn't give us more than we can handle and with that I keep my faith. Make it a great one gang.

Knee High Boots and the Curvy Girl

OK let's get real for a quick sec.....when you are vertically challenged, have thicker calf's and thighs, the Boot situation can be a serious struggle! Have you tried to buy "Thigh-high Boot's" - Um, let's just say that you have to do some extra shaving since the Boot's are going to end up in your crotch. Sooooo, I stick to "Knee-high Boot's" in regular size, not Petite, because they actually end up at my thighs. Now onto the next challenge: stuffing Jeans into the Boot's. I got ya' here. I pull the Jeans all the way down so the bulk is in the shoe portion of the Boot, not the calf. If the Boot's are tight I do not add bulk by wearing high room to spare!

I'm sure in my younger days that my skirt may have been a little shorter but I carry a lot of my weight in my thighs, and my knees can be not so pretty. So this flip skirt is perfect since it just hits me just above the knee, the knee high Boot's are above the knee so there is just a little bit of skin.

Who doesn't love a good Utility Jacket to carry us into Spring? Lightweight and comfortable AND covers the extra areas that may have a little extra Winter padding on them. #sunflowerseeds

Yes, the Prepster is alive and well. Although I do look a bit like I might ride a horse also. Shall we call it: "Prepster Equestrian?"  My Ralph Lauren shirt is from the kids department at Marshalls, I linked the Man's version below. Kids department is great when your little BTW.

These are comfortable Cords (Cords are a great alternative to Jeans) and there was much tucking involved. I shoved the extra material from the pant's down into the foot area and zipped these babies up. Topped it all off with a wide Belt to nip in at the waist.

These are key pieces for your wardrobe: A Utility Jacket, Knee-high Boot's and colored Cords. Every curvy girl need's um'.

If you read my post from last week, we topped everything off with a small electrical fire in the Kitchen....but everyone is safe and everything has been fixed. Not sure why everything decided to break, blow-up and stop working at the same time.....Well it's so true that what you think may break you only makes you stronger. Make it a great one gang.

Ripped Jeans and Rain Clouds

Rain drops are falling and I'm doing a happy dance. Love this weather! Cold, wet and uncomfortable is calling my name. I just want to snuggle up with a fire, a good book and a bowl of Sunflower seeds. But instead, I braved the rain to show you how incredibly cute these Distressed Boyfriend Jeans are. I did a little Boho action first, then went for the Sweatshirt and Sneaks look. Shop the look below or get a little "rain weather outfit inspiration" ~

I love these booties with the Perforated Faux Leather, but they are sold out. So I found you some similar ones here and here.

I tied my shirt to the side, it's not for everyone, but it nips you in at the waist

I have a thang for Funnel-Neck Sweatshirt's. I just think they add some fun and interest to a pretty average and comfortable item.

And there you have it, a Southern California girl making the most out of a wonderful wet weather storm. Happy dance. And as I'm sure my mom will ask: "Why wear ripped jeans in cold, wet weather? Don't your legs get wet or cold?.....Nope. Just keepin' it stylish mom.

Have a great week gang.

Not a great last week for me and the hubby. Nope we are not fighting or anything like that, we just have a lot more stress than usual (we like to eat when were stressed) #yummy #excusetoeat. I know everyone has stress and ours is not life threatening or anything that big, so shut the hell up Cork! It's just that everything happened at once, like it always seems to.

First the hot water heater blew. Next the water main in front of our house burst (it froze if you can believe that?!) Then my car door handle came off in my super strong hands. :( And last but not least....... while it's been freezing here...our house heater stopped working....all in the same week. We are home owners so there is no land lord to call. So what does any real adult do? Run away? Yes, we went to my mom's up in San Louise Obispo. Go ahead with the judgment, I can handle it. We had the trip planned for my hubby and sisters Birthday, and decided to just go.

I'm glad we did. Sometimes you have to step away, take a deep breath and remember how full your glass really is. We are so blessed in so many ways, and I need to remember that sometimes when crap seems to pile up. We all have stuff, some bigger than others, but it's all.....LIFE. I really try not to let life get me down when it kicks my short little ass, but I'm afraid it does sometimes. So I choose to take a step back, take a big breath, count my blessings, work out, and eat some sunflower seeds. Hey, you may have Chocolate, I've got my seed's. Thanks for being a big part of my glass overflowing and listening to my little pity party.

My Favorite Kitchen Appliance's

I know, I know... we are veering away from fashion but some of these things are very important. I must share! If you have been following me on Insta-stories you will notice how much we cook. We really try to cook dinner at home 5 nights a week....see how I said "try." We love the Trader Joe Market. Big fan's. I'm the only "Pescatarian" (a person who eats fish but not meat) in my house so I tend to make a meal for myself (they think my food is weird) and a separate one for the fam (they all eat meat :( ). So some of my Insta-story followers asked about my favorite Appliances, and here we are.....(long winded little person here).

The Electric Tea Pot

OMG, one of the best gift's ever from my mom. I am a big tea drinker and had a really cool tea kettle on my cook-top...then someone that I love, very much, who lives in my house, who is a boy, tried to make hot water while the tea-pot was empty. UGH! So when my Birthday rolled around my mom bought me this electric tea pot, and oh how it completes me. The glass pot allows you to see that there is water in it (you know who you are) and it plugs into any regular plug. You turn it on, on the handle, and when it's done the handle turns Green and your ready! Tea, Hot Chocolate, Oatmeal - You get the idea...It cleans up easy, I wash it by hand. Every couple of weeks I put water and Vinegar in the pot to clean the water build-up and I'm back in business. It looks great on your counter also!

The Ninja Blender

This little baby is my Ninja Blender....Say Hi! My Husband bought this for me because I love to blend. Yep, It's a thing for me. I've had a couple different brands before and this one has been the best. I love that it has different speeds and duration's to choose from. It always pulverizes everything I put into it, and I'm never left with chunks. I thought it was expensive as first but we use it so much that now I really think it was worth every dime. Thanks Hubby!

As you can see the Ninja family has many options, faster, bigger...mine is the one on the bottom left. Works perfect for us.

My Favorite blended drink:

1 Cup of cold Black Coffee

1/2 cup of Almond Milk

1 Teaspoon of Stivia

Lots of Ice

Yummy....... :)

Instant Pot

Holy cow...who knew???? So my wonderful, super smart mom bought this for my hubby and I for Christmas. I thought it was such a nice gift although I didn't know what It was nore had I ever heard of one. (Yes I live under a rock) So I left it in the cabinet for weeks until my mom came to my house and made 10 minutes in this little baby. 10 MINUTES!!!! She didn't measure out the rice and water and it came out perfect. Then she made my family shredded Pork (no comment) and it was ready in like 45 minutes. They all loved it. We gave away our Crock-pot and Rice cooker and now only use this pressure cooker. I lOVE IT! I throw all kinds of stuff in there on Sunday to make a stew for the week for my lunch. Frozen Veggies, Lentel's, Brown Rice and Vegetable Stock with some spices and it's done in 10-12 minutes. What a great investment this is if you don't have one. Thanks mom....again!

I know all the Instant Pots look the same but they are actually somewhat different in that they have various quart sizes and prices. I have a medium size 6 Qt and this is perfect for a family of 4. (Well one little person and 3 giant guys!)

If you've been on the fence about some of these items, or maybe have never heard of them before, I sure hope this post helps. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!
